Municipal camping area, Lo Albentosa, Torrevieja
Área Recreativa de Lo Albentosa
Near to the Laguna de La Mata and visitor centre is the municipal camping and recreation area, Lo Albentosa.
This is a shaded woodland area covering 125,000 square metres which is opened for holiday periods and festival days, and is heavily planted with pine trees in well spaced rows, with room left between for the passage of vehicles and for pitching tents.
This whole site was created by the Rotary Club of Torrevieja, who planted 3000 trees back in 1993, subsequent tree planting campaigns adding other native plants and trees and further pines to the original batch. The site officially opened to the public in 2011.
Lo Albentosa has running water and a water tap, toilets are also provided, there are also play areas for children and municipal security on the entrance gates.
There is no charge to use the facility, but the site is only open for a limited period of time around key holiday dates, starting with the Easter holiday, Semana Santa.
Prior to arrival it is important to confirm your intention to camp and obtain a permit from the town hall to ensure that there is sufficient space.
This service is well used by local Spanish families who take advantage of the facilities to enjoy periods such as Semana Santa so that the festivities can be enjoyed at little cost. The site is also extremely popular on major saint’s days, such as San Vicente Ferrer, when families gather in the areas provided to enjoy meals together and have a family break.
The Tourist Office can provide specific department details on request and advise the dates on which the site is open. Tel : 96 570 34 33
Lo Albentosa is close to the visitor centre: Follow the map link for the visitor centre and turn left just before the carpark, following the signs to Lo Albentosa.
