Yecla is set to significantly expand its parking capacity with the approval of new surface parking spaces in the central-eastern area, specifically around Calle España and Calle Hospital.

 

The Local Government Board has approved the start of the bidding process to award the lease of plots that will be used for public use as parking spaces.

 

The initiative will create between 40 and 50 new surface parking spaces, substantially expanding the amount of public parking available in Yecla's town centre. These additional spots will complement the 32 spaces already opened in November 2022 on Calle del Niño.

 

“With these parking spots we not only replace the spaces affected by the works on calles Hospital and España, but we even expand the total parking capacity in the centre,” Mayor Remedios Lajara explained.

 

“It is a measure designed to facilitate the daily lives of residents, businesses and visitors, thus fulfilling our commitment to improve the streets of our town and the provision of spaces for parking,” he added.

 

The project represents a significant investment in urban infrastructure, with the municipal budget allocating €40,000 for the lease arrangements and an additional €48,000 for adaptation and conditioning work. These funds were included in the municipal budget for 2025, which was approved in January.

 

The new parking spaces should be up and running by the last quarter of 2025.
