Yecla and Jumilla on yellow heat alert as afternoon temperatures approach 40

The longer-term forecast shows no real respite for northern Murcia over the next week

The meteorologists are mostly forecasting that Monday and Tuesday will mark the high point of the current heatwave which is affecting most of Spain, and although the Region of Murcia has escaped the very worst of the conditions heat alerts are in place for the centre and the north of the Region on Monday 11^th and Tuesday 12^th.

The forecast is for maximum temperatures in Yecla and Jumilla of 39 degrees on both days, with a yellow alert in place between 13.00 and 21.00, while night-time and early morning minimums are expected to remain at between 20 and 22.

While temperatures are likely to dip a little on Wednesday and Thursday, by next weekend the expectation is that figures will rise again, and at the moment Aemet are forecasting a return to 39ºC by Sunday 17^th August!
