What happens when you need to isolate your mains water but the valves are stuck fast? One Camposol company explains this pesky property problem...
In recent months and with increased frequency, the engineers from Camposol Heating & Maintenance (CHM) have been called out to several customers concerning major water leaks where they were unable to isolate and turn off the mains water supply to their premises.“Left unattended, this can cause considerable damage, not only to your property but also your bank account!” says the team at CHM.
“We have robust solutions for both residential and holiday homes to bring you total peace of mind. You may not be aware that the local water companies e.g. Aqualia will only take responsibility up to the ‘turn off point’ in the pavement and have started leaving the following message, taped to the meter:
“Dear Sir/Madam, we have proceeded to close the stopcock of your water meter when we detect a high consumption in your property. We inform you so that you can check your facilities in case you have any leak or any open tap.”
On one recent example, the valves had not been touched for around 20 years and were completely corroded and had to be replaced entirely!
