Rain and storms are set to return to the Region of Murcia this Wednesday September 2, with Aemet issuing a yellow weather alert for parts of the Northwest.

 

The warning covers the Northwest of the Region from 2pm until 8pm, when rainfall of up to 15mm in an hour is possible. The storms could also bring hail and strong gusts of wind, so conditions may become quite lively during the afternoon and early evening.

 

The unsettled weather comes just as temperatures are starting to climb again across Murcia. A warmer spell is expected to develop from Wednesday and continue throughout Saturday, with both daytime and overnight temperatures rising.

 

Murcia, Cieza, Yecla and Lorca are all expected to reach around 35°C on Wednesday, while Caravaca is forecast to see a high of 34°C.

 

Along the coast, temperatures will be slightly more manageable, with Cartagena reaching around 31°C.

 

It won’t feel particularly cool overnight either as minimum temperatures are expected to stay around 21°C in Murcia and 22°C in Cartagena, bringing a return to the tropical nights that have been a familiar feature of the summer.
