The town councils of San Pedro del Pinatar, Los Alcázares and San Javier have announced that the Taibilla Canal Association (MCT) has completely cut off the water supply to their municipalities on Tuesday October 14. This will last 24 hours in the latter case, but is yet to be determined in the rest of the municipalities.

 

This cut is to allow the company to empty and clean the tanks, which well contaminated with mud during the storm. The water outage will also affect Dolores de Pacheco in the municipality of Torre Pacheco.

 

In the municipality of Murcia, the districts of Baños y Mendigo, Lobosillo and Avileses do have drinking water, but they may experience supply interruptions due to the construction work, according to Aguas de Murcia. For this reason, the water tank will not be delivered to Avileses today (October 14), but will be transferred to Gea y Truyols and Sucina, which remain completely without water.

 

In San Javier, from 9am to 8pm, except during loading periods, the tanks are located in the courthouse parking lot on Calle Enrique Granados; on the Centramirsa esplanade; on Centramirsa Avenue in El Mirador; in the Santiago de la Ribera market area; at the intersection of Federico Guirao Avenue and Patrulla Águila Avenue; in the La Roda Civic Centre car park; and in the Pozo Aledo Civic Centre from 4pm.

 

Also in La Manga del Mar Menor, water can be obtained next to Plaza Bohemia, on Gran Vía Avenue and Calle Isla del Ciervo, through taps connected to the Cartagena water supply system, which has not been affected and is available 24 hours a day.

 

Here, following the latest analyses, it’s been confirmed that tap water can be used for personal hygiene and cleaning, but not for drinking or preparing food.

 

People with reduced mobility or in situations of social vulnerability who cannot travel can contact the Emergency Department at 968 570880.

 

In San Pedro del Pinatar, water distribution points are located on the Lo Pagán esplanade, from 8am to 8pm; at the fairgrounds, from 10am to 8pm; and at the sports centre from 12pm to 8pm.

 

There are also two permanent drinking water points on the El Mojón road on the Pilar de la Horadada side.

 

Mobile tanks are also available in the parking lot in front of the Fire Station in Los Sáez, from 1pm to 2.30pm; on Avenida Santiago, towards Loma de Arriba, in Loma de Arriba, from 3pm to 4.30pm; in the park next to the leisure centre on CalleEmilio Díez de Revenga, in Nuevo San Pedro-Villa Alegría, from 5pm to 6.30pm; and in the parking lot next to the Dos Mares Secondary School, in Los Peñascos-Los Cuarteros, from 7pm to 8.30pm.

 

Additionally, a shower and changing room service is available at the Pilar de la Horadada sports centre from 7am to 11.59pm on October 14. Vulnerable individuals can also contact Civil Protection at 968 188 092.

 

In Torre Pacheco, the water tanks are open from 9am to 8pm at the San Cayetano and Dolores de Pacheco Civic Centres; in the Roldán Church Square; in the El Jimenado Church Square; and in the Saorines de Roldán residential area.

 

The José Antonio García Tatono sports centre remains open for personal hygiene for affected residents from 7am to 11.59pm. The Town Council has reported that non-potable water service has been restored in Roldán, Balsicas and Dolores de Pacheco.

 

In the municipality of Los Alcázares, from 9am to 8pm, drinking water tanks are located at the entrance to the Town Hall, in Miguel de Cervantes Square in Los Narejos, and another in Las Lomas del Rame. The showers in the Juan Sáez Pavilion in El Algar, provided by the Cartagena City Council, are also available from 9am to 10pm.

 

Aguas de Murcia has started supplying drinking water to the affected population through drinking water tanks until service is restored from 9am to 8pm on the Paseo del Cementerio, in the districts of Sucina, and next to the Municipal Centre of Gea y Truyols.

 

In Cartagena, since Bahía Bella's supply network depends on the affected Los Alcázares pipelines, the municipal water concessionaire Hidrogea has deployed a tank to supply free drinking water to the population, which will be in operation from 9am to 2pm.
