Volunteer dog walkers urgently needed at Cieza's Ascoy kennel
The shelter does incredible work but the dogs desperately need people to come and walk them, and even a couple of hours a week helps enormously

If you're an animal lover with a few hours to spare each week, this one's for you. The kennel on the Ascoy industrial estate in Cieza is urgently looking for volunteer dog walkers, and the need really couldn't be more pressing.
The shelter does a remarkable job looking after its residents, and the dogs are well cared for, but however good a kennel is, it's no substitute for a proper life. Some of these dogs have been there for years, and the chance to get outside for a walk, have a good sniff around and spend a little time with someone who cares about them is about as good as it gets for them.
It really does make a world of difference, even if it's just a couple of hours a week.
You don't need any special skills or experience, just a willingness to turn up and give a dog a bit of your time. The kennel is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 1pm, so there's plenty of flexibility to fit a visit around your schedule.
To get there from the green BP petrol station, head towards Polígono Ascoy and continue straight ahead to the first roundabout, then straight on to the second roundabout, then take the first street on your right. Head up to the top and you'll see the kennel in the middle of the field.
