A sudden storm brought a dramatic change in weather to the northeastern Altiplano area of the Region of Murcia this Tuesday June 3, following several days of unusually high temperatures.
The downpour particularly affected the municipalities of Jumilla and Yecla. According to data from the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS), Jumilla registered nearly 200ml of in the afternoon, with 120ml falling within a single hour.
By around 8pm, the storm had also reached Yecla, causing temporary flooding in parts of the town centre. Several videos showing waterlogged streets quickly circulated on social media.

The yellow weather warning issued by Aemet extended to other areas, including the northwest and the Vega del Segura, but the most significant rainfall was confined to the Altiplano and neighbouring zones bordering Albacete. Calasparra recorded 100ml, while Hellín saw up to 200ml.
However, from this Wednesday June 4 onwards, the entire Region of Murcia is forecast to return to high summer temperatures, with maximums exceeding 30°C and continuing to rise throughout the week.
