VIDEO: Snow in northwest Murcia just one day after 28-degree heat
The mountainous parts of the province got snow this Tuesday, less than 24 hours after the central area basked in 28ºC heat

After an unseasonably warm day with temperatures reaching an almost record-breaking 28ºC in the centre of the Region of Murcia, the northwest of the Region woke up this Tuesday January 28 to a surprising sight: heavy snowfall covering the higher districts of Moratalla, such as Cañada de la Cruz, Inazares and Los Odres.
The snowfall, which left up to 10 centimetres of snow in the vicinity of Pico de Los Obispos at 1,400 metres, also affected other areas like Calar and Campo de San Juan. It comes in the midst of a weather forecast for rapidly plummeting temperatures this week.

While the picturesque scenery might attract visitors, authorities are advising against visiting these remote and mountainous areas unless you're an experienced hiker or climber.
The unexpected snow is expected to provide a boost to the local hospitality and rural tourism industries, with restaurants and accommodation in the area preparing for an influx of visitors over the weekend, depending on how long the snow lasts.
This marks the second significant snowfall of 2025 in Murcia, following the year's first snowfalls just 10 days ago.
