ARCHIVED ARTICLE -
An exhibition of paintings and sculptures is being held at the Los Baños archaeological museum in Alhama de Murcia on the subject of “Stabat Mater”, the phrase which encapsulates the suffering of the Virgin Mary during the crucifixion of Jesus.
The figure of Mary has become known as the Virgen de los Dolores y la Soledad in the Region of Murcia (Our Lady of the Sorrows and the Loneliness), and this exhibition traces the history of her worship in the Region, including the miracle of the Virgen de las Lágrimas in Cabezo de Torres and ending in the current cult of the Virgen de los Dolores.
The display is organized by the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores with help from the Town Hall of Alhama and the Diocese of de Cartagena. Visiting times at Los Baños are Tuesday to Saturday 10.00 to 14.00 and 17.00 to 20.00, Sundays 10.00 to 14.00.
