Until February 16 Annual Fiestas of San Blas in the Caravaca village of La Encarnación
Musical entertainment, a procession and plenty to eat and drink in rural Caravaca!
The village of La Encarnación in the picturesque countryside of Caravaca de la Cruz is best known as the home to millennia of archaeological remains, which have led people to say that if one place in the Region of Murcia above all others can boast archaeological finds which transcend the centuries, representing a wide range of historical and prehistoric ages, this is it.
But there is more to La Encarnación than the vestiges of human habitation going back at least 400,000 years, and in late January and early February the village celebrates its annual fiestas in honour of San Blas, the patron saint of (among other things) warding off throiat infections, physicians, healing and veterinarians but also, in different places of infants, animals, builders, stonecutters, carvers, drapers, wool workers, the wool industry, throats, defence against choking, ENT illnesses, Bradford, Italy, Sicily, Dubrovnik, Paraguay and Madeira!
Although the Saint’s feast day is on 3rd February, this year’s fiestas last until a good deal after that date, with the 2026 programme including the following:
Friday January 30
21.30: Pool and table football tournaments.
Saturday January 31

21.30: A show entitled Tu Cara Me Suena.
Saturday February 7

16.30: Live music from FYV Band.
21.30: DJ music through the evening.
