Themed visits to the Cartagena Roman Theatre and more to discover this autumn
Performances in Spanish and visits to the western portico are some of the plans proposed for this great autumn season
The Roman Theatre of Cartagena opens this autumn with new opening hours. From Tuesday to Saturday the opening times are now from 10am to 6pm, while on Sunday the opening times are 10am to 2pm.
Along with these new opening times, activities are being organised in Spanish for the weekends in collaboration with Cartagena Puerto de Culturas.
On Saturdays at 11am, the activity Soy Romano teaches visitors about the theatre building and its Greek predecessor to learn about the origin of the theatre.
Then visitors will be immersed in a time tunnel, and with various riddles and games we will reach the Roman theatre, where a comedy and a musical dithyramb will be staged.
At 11.30am, also on a Saturday, from the Casa della Fortuna, is the guided tour Lucrezia Prima, Citizen of Carthago Nova. The tour gives visitors an insight into the daily life of Lucrezia Prima in ancient Carthago Nova, visiting the main monuments of the city, from her family home, the Domus della Fortuna, through the forum, the sanctuary of Isis, taking a relaxing bath in the thermal baths or attending the theatre with her husband.

On Sundays at 11am, the guided tour from the Theatre to the Portico behind the scenes is still available. The route will begin with a visit to the Roman Theatre Museum, where visitors will enjoy a new piece from the Museum, the pictorial panel of Mars recovered from the theatre's portico.
The tour continues through the Museum's halls until reaching the magnificent Roman Theatre. Then it will continue towards one of the most typical corners of the old Fisherman's Quarter, the Callejón de la Soledad, to visit the newly recovered remains of the western portico.
