Terra Natura Murcia sees birth of five wild white storks
The park has established itself as a key area for the natural nesting of this species

Terra Natura Murcia has confirmed the birth of five wild white storks after observing two of the three nests located in its facilities. The park, which has become a nesting area for this animal thanks to the presence of three breeding pairs, has reached a new milestone with these births as something like this has not happened since 2021.
The wild white stork has been present at Terra Natura Murcia since 2012, when they began to fly over the site, attracted by the birds in the aviary and the wetland. Since then, five of these animals have been ringed, which has allowed, in collaboration with SEO Birdlife, the Regional Ministry of the Environment and Murcia City Council, to collect and analyse very important information about their reproduction, their movements and their behaviour in a safe and suitable environment for their development.
Following these births, Terra Natura Murcia will implement different signage elements in its facilities to make it known to visitors, raise awareness of the importance of the wild white stork for biodiversity and explain some of the animal’s characteristics.
The park’s director, Gustavo Martínez, underlined the importance of these births “in a species that had not reproduced in the Region of Murcia for 70 years until 2021, and we have been nesting naturally for 13 years, without our intervention. We have to continue in this line to promote and protect this species in our territory”.
Tickets to visit the park and zoo can be purchased online in advance on the Terra Natura website, or at the ticket office on the day of your visit.
