This coming Sunday September 7, in Yecla, the community will gather to take part in a much-loved tradition: the pilgrimage to the Hermitage of San Isidro. Now in its twentieth year, this event brings neighbours and friends together for an evening of connection and celebration.

 

At 6.30pm, pilgrims will meet by the Concha Segura Theatre before setting off on a gentle walk along the San Isidro road towards the hermitage. The walk welcomes everyone, whether you’ve joined before or it’s your first time.

 

The journey leads to the heart of the celebratio, the Misa Labradora (or Farmers’ Mass) at 7.30pm. The mass, dedicated to San Isidro and Santa María de la Cabeza, will be beautifully sung by the Arabí folk group. Expect a warm and heartfelt atmosphere with festival queens, local dignitaries and the colourful banners of each neighbourhood group adding to the sense of occasion.

 

This pilgrimage is more than a walk; it’s a chance to reconnect after the summer break, share stories and support treasured local customs. It also marks the start of preparations for the bigger San Isidro festivities to come later in the year.

 

Everyone is warmly invited to join in this special evening, whether to be part of the tradition, enjoy the folk music, or simply spend time with community spirit all around.
