Summer mobile library returns to Águilas beach
The book bus will be parked near the seafront in the Águilas village of Calabardina every Monday this summer

The super-popular mobile library is back in Playa de Calabardina for the summer. The Bibliobús will be parked near the seafront in this Águilas village every Monday, offering visitors access to books and digital resources while promoting reading and culture.
The initiative, which first began in the summer of 1998, was created to expand the reach of the Region of Murcia’s library services. It brought bookmobiles to some of the most popular holiday spots with the aim of reaching as many readers as possible.
Since then, the campaign known as ‘A Summer of Books’ has continued each year.
During these summer visits, the Bibliobús lends out around 5,000 physical items. It also provides information about how to access and use the Regional Library’s digital platforms.
Unsurprisingly, the most popular materials borrowed during the summer season are storybooks and novels, especially those aimed at children and young adults.
To borrow items, users simply need to show a Regional Public Library Network card. If they do not already have one, it can be issued on the spot by showing a valid ID.
Books can be returned in several ways. They can be handed in the following Monday when the mobile library returns to Calabardina, sent by post to the Regional Library at Avenida Juan Carlos I, number 17, in Murcia, or returned in person at the main library.
The Bibliobús will be parked in Calabardina on Costa Cálida Avenue next to the Pantalán Restaurant every Monday from 10am until 1pm.
