Spring clean for the main pedestrian throughfare of Jumilla!
New species replace privet hedges as watering efficiency is improved
The Town Hall of Jumilla is welcoming the arrival of spring with the annual clean-up, planting and pruning operation in the gardens of Paseo Poeta Lorenzo Guardiola, and at the same time improving the watering system to minimize wastage and ensure that all plants receive the appropriate sprinkling.
It is anticipated that the work will be completed before the annual Semaena Santa processions, which have been awarded International Tourist Interest status: by then the flowerbeds will have been cleaned and renewed, new species planted (including Photinia hedges to replace the privet, some of which is being transferred to the gardens of the municipal swimming pool).
In the central flowerbeds the ensemble being created includes Loropetalum chinense, Cineraria marítima, Teucrium fruticans and Solenostemon (Coleos).
