September 6 Hike up to the Cabezo del Plomo Neolithic site along the Rambla de las Moreras in Mazarrón
Enjoy the beauty of nature, geology and history on this simple evening walk
This simple and very pretty walk will take you from the RAMSAR-listed wetland of Las Moreras, along the bed of the Rambla de las Moreras ravine, past its little woodland of tamarisk salt cedars to Bolnuevo beach with its unique sandstone formations, and then on to the site of the Stone Age settlement of Cabezo del Plomo.
It starts at 18.30 on Saturday September 6 and should take approximately three and a half hours, depending on the fitness of the participants or any other extenuating circumstances.
This circular route is classified as being of low difficulty and covers a distance of 8.2 kilometres, over the course of which there is a total altitude gain of 120 metres.
Participants will need their own transport to get to the meeting point, where they can leave their vehicles and where everyone will return to at the end of the route. The location of this meeting point will be sent once registration to take part has been completed.
It is obligatory for each participant to bring at least one litre of water, and to wear closed shoes suitable for trekking on uneven ground (no sandals of any kind are allowed), and suitable clothing for the activity. The organisers recommend checking the weather forecast to see what will be best to wear.
It is also a good idea to bring hiking or Nordic walking sticks.
Children are welcome but it is the responsibility of parents or guardians to ensure that they behave appropriately throughout.
No pets are allowed.
Neither the Region of Murcia Tourism Department nor the guides will be responsible for any incidents that participants may provoke by not acting responsibly.
Every participant must fill in a registration form with all the required personal details, including their ID number (DNI/NIE or passport). They must also specify if anyone is under the age of 18.
Only people who have registered in advance will be allowed to take part.
The activity could be cancelled if the weather is unfavourable.
