Dog lovers in Águilas have a chance to put their four-legged friends in the spotlight this weekend, with the annual Aguiproan dog show returning to Águilas Plaza shopping centre.

 

The event takes place on Sunday September 27 and is being organised by local animal shelter Aguiproan in collaboration with Águilas Town Hall, with dogs of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds invited to take part.

 

Whether they’re pedigree, mixed breed, big, small, tall or short, there’s a category for everyone. The event is designed as a fun morning for local families while also helping to support Aguiproan and its work with animals in need.

 

Four competitions will take place during the morning. The first two will crown the handsomest mixed-breed male and prettiest mixed-breed female before the Friends Forever category gives children aged between 5 and 12 the chance to enter alongside their dogs. Costumes are optional for this category.

 

The final competition will be open to purebred dogs, giving owners another opportunity to show off their pets and enjoy some friendly competition.

 

Registration opens at 10.30am, with the first category getting under way at 10.45am. The event is due to finish at around 12.30pm.

 

Entry to the event costs just €1, although children and dogs can attend for free. Taking part in one of the competitions costs €5 per category for each dog.

 

Aguiproan is encouraging dog owners to come along regardless of their pet's breed or appearance, with the emphasis firmly on having fun and celebrating the area's canine community.
