September 22 Guided tour and locally produced honey tasting in Yecla
Culture and apiculture on this unusual tourist experience in Yecla
An unusual morning of tourism is on offer on Sunday 22nd September in Yecla, beginning with a guided tour of the most important historical sights in the town centre and continuing with a tasting of the locally produced “Yakka” honey (Yakka was the name by which Yecla was known by the Moors in the 12th and 13th centuries).
The visit begins at 10.00 in the town centre and ends with the honey tasting, which is accompanied by an interesting explanation of how bees are kept and how the honey is produced in the countryside of Yecla. The cost of registration is 6 euros (free for under-12s) and the process can be completed online here.
Those taking part will need to organize their own transport in order to reach the location of the tasting, and to get back to Yecla to round off the morning with a fine lunch and perhaps a taste of the renowned DOP Yecla wine!
If visiting Yecla don’t forget to make sure one of your first ports of call is the tourist office (Plaza Mayor, 1, email turismo@yecla.es, telephone 968 754104).
