September 15 Mountain running races for all ages at the Peñarrubia Lorca Trail
The main events is a 26 km run with 1750 metres of climbing and descent
The 12th edition of the “Peñarrubia Lorca Trail” is taking place on Sunday 15th September with five separate runs of different distances for different abilities, making this an event to be enjoyed by groups of friends and family while at the same time raising funds for the APAT charity.
The event begins at 8.00 in the morning at the Pérez de Hita primary school in the La Viña district of the city of Lorca, where there will also be a creche so that parents with infant children can leave them in safe hands while racing. These infants are practically the only ones unable to take part in the event due to the inclusion of five separate races:
- the “Carrera Extreme” (26 km with 1,750 metres of climbing and descent),
- the “Carrera Promo” (17 km and 940 metres),
- the “Carrera Promo Cadete” (for those aged 15 and 16, 10 km and 500 metres),
- the “Minitrail” for those aged 11 to 14 (4 km and 130 metres), and
- a hiking event (12 km of relative ease to encourage as many people as possible to take part).
Registration is open online here until Thursday September 12, costing between 10 euros for the Minitrail and 25 euros for the Carrera Extreme, and participants can collect their race numbers on Saturday September 14 between 18.00 and 21.00 at the Colegio Pérez de Hita. Those coming from outside Lorca can collect race numbers prior to the start, between 6.00 and 7.30 in the morning.
