September 14 to 17 Free olive oil tasting course in Lorca

The Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia invites you to learn more about one of the staples of the Mediterranean diet!

Almost without noticing it, the longer expats live in the Region of Murcia (or anywhere in Spain, come to that) the more they assimilate the consumption of olive oil as an indispensable part of daily life. Whether it’s just for frying food quickly, as a dressing on salad or as a typical topping (with salt and tomato) on your morning tostadas, we almost all end up relying on olive oil as a staple in our diet.

But not many people really know much about it – the different varieties of olives which can be used to tailor the oil to accompany different kinds of food, the different strengths available and what really makes one oil “better” than another.

If this is something you would be interested to learn more about, this short course is being held at the CIFEA just outside Lorca (click for map), although it’s organized by the Town Hall of Alhama de Murcia, from 14^th to 17^th September, with classes lasting every afternoon from 16.00 to 21.00.
