The main square in San Pedro del Pinatar once again filled with colour and quiet generosity as the local branch of the Asociación Española contra el Cáncer (the AECC, the Spanish cancer association) held its annual charity plant pot sale.

 

The event has become a familiar fixture in the Plaza de la Constitución, attracting residents who are keen to lend their support while picking up plants and flowers. This year’s edition was no exception, with a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.

 

 

Among those stopping by was mayor Pedro Javier Sánchez (above, left), who took time to speak with volunteers and show his backing for the initiative. He also met with the association’s local president, María José de la Ordén (above, right), acknowledging the ongoing work carried out by the group across the municipality.

 

While modest in scale, the plant sale plays a practical role in funding the association’s wider efforts. Money raised will go towards programmes focused on cancer prevention, research and support services for patients and their families, areas that remain at the heart of the organisation’s work.

 

As well as this event, the AECC regularly organises community initiatives ranging from health walks to charity meals and fundraising drives, each aimed at maintaining public awareness while generating resources for its projects.
