The I Skateboard Festival of San Pedro del Pinatar was successfully held last Saturday, May 24, attracting dozens of skateboarders and fans of urban culture to the Centro de Ocio y Artes Emergentes Juan Martínez Juliá.

 

Organised by the Colectivo Ministros del Aire in collaboration with the Youth Department, the festival offered a full morning of activities including exhibitions, live music and expert-led classes in skateboarding.

 

A key highlight, according to San Pedro Town Hall, was the participation of Basque professional skateboarder Jon Santiago, who led a masterclass and gave an exhibition. Santiago praised the venue, describing its facilities as “one of the best” he has encountered, particularly the Half Pipe ramp, considered among the top in Spain.

 

Throughout the event, amateur and aspiring skateboarders were able to take part in both beginner and technical training sessions, helping to strengthen local interest in the sport. The festival also showcased homegrown talent, including young skater Valeria Chacón, who took part in the day’s activities.

 

 

Local officials, including Mayor Pedro Javier Sánchez and Councillors Pedro Vivancos and Carmen María López, attended the event and underlined the town’s investment in skateboarding infrastructure. The addition of the Half Pipe ramp has helped position San Pedro del Pinatar as a leading location for skateboarding in Spain.
