Sabores del Camino gastronomy route in Caravaca de la Cruz
Local restaurants in and around Caravaca join forces to promote their mouth-watering specialities!
A new initiative launched by the Town Hall of Caravaca de la Cruz has gained the support of 30 local bars and restaurants, all keen to promote their culinary expertise under the banner of the “Sabores del Camino” program.
The establishments taking part form 5 separate routes based on the different paths taken by pilgrims to the Holy City of Caravaca (the Camino de Levante, the Camino de la Vera Cruz, the Camino de San Juan de la Cruz, the Camino Espiritual del Sur and the Camino del Mediterráneo), thus offering a chance not only to eat well but also to discover aspects of the historical and gastronomic heritage of the city. Among the specialities on offer are tapas, snacks and desserts, ranging from traditional favourites to the most innovative recent creations of the chefs involved.
The 5 routes are as follows:
Camino de Levante
Las Delicias del Horno, La Despensa del Peregrino, Bar 33, La Bodega, Restaurante el Progreso, Bodegón Isi, Cafetería el Horno
Camino de la Vera Cruz
Arce Bar, Qué Giro, El Edén, Felymar, Cafetería Plaza
Camino de San Juan de la Cruz
Bar Pizzería Capry, El Patio de Mi Casa, Bar Rodeo, Paladar, Doña Luisa
Camino Espiritual del Sur
La Loma, Cafetería Tati, Molière, Saborea, el Horno Prolongación, Los Valencianisimos
Camino del Mediterráneo
Pasará Café, Bar Tere, Bocattas, La Tasca de Enfrente, Camino del Huerto, Monkeys Coffee
Full details of the Sabores del Camino establishments and their specialities can be found at www.saboresdelcamino.com, and the routes remain in operation at least until the end of 2025, with more than 3,000 route maps already having been printed in the style of the “credencial” used by pilgrims during the 7-yearly Holy Jubilee events.
