Region of Murcia rents continue to climb as prices near €11 per square metre
The Region is still one of Spain's more affordable places to rent, but prices are definitely edging upwards

The Region of Murcia remains one of Spain's most affordable places to rent, but prices are continuing to climb as competition for homes shows little sign of easing.
According to the latest market figures, the average rental price in the Region reached €10.90 per square metre in July, representing a 5.2% increase compared with the same month last year.
Although that's a big jump, it's still lower than the national average, where rents increased by 6.8% over the same period to reach a record €15.30 per square metre.
Compared with other parts of Spain, the Region of Murcia is still among the country's more affordable places to rent. Madrid continues to top the rankings with average rents of €21.40 per square metre, followed by the Balearic Islands at €20 and Catalonia at €16.
Several areas have seen even steeper annual increases than Murcia, including Aragón, Castilla-La Mancha, Asturias, La Rioja and Castilla y León, while the Valencian Community also recorded a slightly higher rise.
The latest figures suggest the upward trend is continuing across almost the entire country. Rental prices increased in 48 of Spain's 50 provinces, with every autonomous community recording year-on-year growth. In fact, the national rental market has now reached another all-time high after prices also rose during the previous quarter.
Buying a home in the Region of Murcia is also becoming increasingly competitive as demand continues to outstrip the number of properties coming onto the market, particularly in larger towns and popular coastal areas.
That demand is reflected in the latest housing data, which shows six municipalities in the Region of Murcia now rank among the 100 most sought-after property markets in Spain, with Murcia city leading the list.
