PALS solicitors simplifies holiday rental registration in Murcia after landmark court ruling
A Spanish Supreme Court judgment has changed the rules for holiday let registration, and PALS solicitors is ready to help you take advantage
If you own a property in Murcia and have been thinking about renting it out as holiday accommodation, there's some genuinely good news worth knowing about! A recent Spanish Supreme Court ruling has made the registration process simpler, and the team at PALS solicitors is perfectly placed to walk you through what it means for you.
What the court decided
In Judgment No. 620/2026, the Spanish Supreme Court declared null and void the single national registration procedure for short-term rental properties marketed through digital platforms, which had been introduced under Royal Decree 1312/2024. In plain terms, the Court ruled that the central government doesn't have the authority to impose a nationwide registration system that duplicates the regional registers already in place. So the national registry requirement, known as the NRA, is no longer necessary.
What this means in practice is straightforward. If you want to register your home as holiday accommodation, you simply need to:
- Submit a Holiday Accommodation application
- Provide the authorisation of your homeowners' association (where one exists)
That's it. The extra layer of national bureaucracy has gone.
Particularly good news for Condado de Alhama residents
There's an especially welcome update for property owners in the Condado de Alhama urbanisation. The homeowners' association there has formally approved, at a general meeting, the authorisation required for holiday accommodation registration. This means PALS can now process applications for properties in this area straight away.
Who are PALS solicitors?
Based in Puerto de Mazarrón and Condado de Alhama, PALS solicitors has been helping English-speaking expats navigate Spanish legal and property matters for many years. Holiday rental licensing is one of their specialities, and they know the Murcia regulations inside out, having guided countless clients through the process since the rules were first introduced back in 2005.
Whether you're just starting to explore the idea of letting your property, or you've been putting off registration because it all seemed too complicated, now is a good time to make the call.
