Orange weather alert closes facilities and roads in Los Alcázares
Ayuntamiento urges residents to avoid unnecessary travel as heavy rain and storms are forecast
The Ayuntamiento de Los Alcázares has announced road closures and the suspension of municipal activities while an orange weather alert for rain and storms remains in force.AEMET issued the warning for Friday October 2, from 10.00am to 7.59pm. Rainfall could reach 40mm in one hour.
Calle Condesa is closed to traffic, along with sections of Avenida de la Libertad. These include the stretch from the Hotel 525 roundabout to the Lo Sola roundabout, and the section between the Aldi supermarket roundabout and the Centro Integral de Seguridad.
All sports activities have been suspended, and several municipal facilities are closed. They include the sports centre and municipal sports facilities, municipal nursery schools, the Centro de Conciliación, Adolfo López Senior Citizens’ Centre, the municipal library, Centro Cultural Las Claras and study rooms.
The tourist offices in Los Alcázares and Los Narejos are also closed for in-person visits, although telephone assistance remains available.
The Ayuntamiento itself will be closed to the public. Minimum registration and statistics services will operate from Espacio Joven La Torre, which is being used as a safe location. These services are only for urgent procedures that cannot be postponed and appointments that cannot be rearranged. Telephone assistance is available on 968 575 047.
Residents are being advised to avoid unnecessary journeys, park vehicles in higher areas and stay away from flood-prone roads and paths. They should also avoid placing household items or rubbish beside containers, as these could obstruct drainage channels.
The Ayuntamiento recommends taking precautionary measures in homes and garages if needed and following official updates. Municipal services and contractor companies are inspecting and clearing drains, grilles and channels to reduce the risk of flooding.
In an emergency, call 112. The Ayuntamiento asks residents to follow emergency service advice, take extra care and remain informed through official channels.
