Off-duty cop saves Brit in Cehegin who had a heart attack at the wheel
The Guardia Civil was driving when he came across the car crash, caused after the British driver had a heart attack
A hero cop in Spain has been praised for his swift thinking and action to help save the life of a British man in
Cehegín (Murcia) who had a heart attack while driving his car.
It happened while the Guardia Civil was driving his car along the RM-B16 road, which links the little village of El Campillo de los Jiménez with the town of Cehegín, when he came across a car that had swerved across the road, colliding with several cars and coming to stop after it crashed into a wall.
The policeman immediately pulled over and ran to the scene of the accident, where he saw that the driver and sole occupant of the car was still inside, apparently with signs of having gone into cardiorespiratory arrest.
He first phoned the emergency services to tell them of the incident before attending to the injured man, who turned out to be British.
Thanks to the unnamed officer’s actions, the Brit was kept alive while police, the fire brigade and an ambulance arrived.
They quickly took him to the Virgen de la Arrixaca hospital in Murcia for further treatment.
Best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
