October 4-6 Surfari Mar Menor windsurfing event in Los Alcázares

ARCHIVED ARTICLE -

The best windsurfers in Spain compete in the Sufari Mar Menor

October 4-6 Surfari Mar Menor windsurfing event in Los Alcázares
From October 4 to 6, 2024, the beaches of La Concha and Carrión in Los Alcázares will be the setting for this special edition windsurfing event, which will attract more than 150 windsurfers from all over the country.

The event is aimed at both amateurs and professionals and has a varied programme that features Open Formula Windsurfing Foil and Finn and the National Open Windsurfer events.

It will host such competitions as the Open Infantil Sub14 concentrations, which underline the inclusive and family-friendly nature of the event.

Mayor of Los Alcázares, Mario Cervera, stated, “Our municipality is once again the national epicentre of windsurfing… with more than 100 participants from different parts of Spain.”

Dionisio García, the manager of the Costa Cálida Nautical Station, continued the sentiment of Mar Menor’s quality as a water sports destination, saying, “Surfari was born 25 years ago with the sole aim of showing that the Mar Menor is the best place in the world to start taking up water sports. Its success lies in the fact that it offers, on the one hand, ideal conditions for enjoying sailing and, on the other, it creates a perfect space to share a few days with people from many places who enjoy the same sport.”

The three days of activities

The event will open on Friday October 4 at 3pm, when the Race Office will open for registration of participants, followed by free practice. The first race is scheduled to begin on Saturday October 5, at 11am. The programme, whose final schedule will be adapted to weather conditions, will end that day at 7pm.

On Sunday October 6, the races will continue from 11am to 5pm, when the awards ceremony will take place to close the event.

This edition, which aims to showcase the fantastic water sports conditions offered by Mar Menor, stands out both for its sporting spirit and its ability to help attract tourists to the destination.
