October 26 Free Bach- Abel classical concert in Yecla
The Anacronía Ensemble at the municipal auditorium in Yecla
The International Chamber Music Festival in Yecla (“Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Yecla”, or FIMYECLA), offers a series of free high-quality small-scale concerts throughout the year, and the cycle was born out of the frustration of local music-lovers during the pandemic years, when live concerts ceased to exist in this part of northern Murcia for a time.
The second edition of the festival is being held with a series of 8 concerts during 2025, all of them taking place in the Auditorio Municipal “Juan Miguel Benedito Rodríguez” in the historic Plaza Mayor and beginning at 20.00. Admission to all events is free of charge.
The penultimate concert in 2025 is on Sunday October 26 and features the Anacronía Ensemble re-creating the renowned “Bach-Abel” concerts which featured Johann Sebastian Bach his friend, the virtuoso viola da gamba player, Carl Friedrich Abel. The concerts were first held at Abel's home but as their popularity grew they moved to larger venues.
The concerts created a regular audience as the audience and provided greater access to live classical music but they ended in 1782 after Bach's death.
The members of the Anacronía Ensemble are Pablo Albarracín (violin), David Gutiérrez (flute), Marc de la Linde (viola da gamba), Marina López (harpsichord) and Luis Manuel Vicente (viola).
