October 24 A range of excellent guided tours during the Matavendimia festival in Jumilla
Four varied visits as Jumilla celebrates the end of the grape-picking season
During the Matavendimia festival in Jumilla to celebrate the end of the 2026 grape-picking season a series of guided tours are being held at a selection of the most popular visitor attractions in and around the town.
Registration for all tours is available online here and the schedule for Saturday 24th October is as follows:
11.00: A dramatized tour (in Spanish) of the 15th-century castle of Jumilla, built by the Marquises of Villena on the hill behind the town on the remains of an ancient Moorish fortification.
To arrive at the main gate of the castle by car it is necessary to receive a prior authorization slip from the tourist office: if you take up this option please do so at least 15 minutes before the start of the tour.
Registration cost: 3 euros.
11.45: A tour of the Ethnographic and Jerónimo Molina Natural History Museum, including a fascinating collection of tools related to traditional crafts in Jumilla as well as a great selection of fossils, minerals, prehistoric fossilized footprints and other exhibits. The tour starts at the museum in Plaza de la Constitución and the registration cost is 3 euros.

12.00: Guided tour of the Jumilla Wine Museum (Museo del Vino) to explore the history of a wine-making tradition which has lasted in Jumilla for at least 2,000 years. In the exhibits the importance of the Monastrell strain of grape is prominent.
The tour begins at the main door of the museum on Avenida José Sánchez Cerezo, registration cost 3 euros.

17.00: A walking tour of the historic old centre of Jumilla, admiring the narrow streets, the squares, the façades of the noble houses adorned with coats of arms and other important architectural and religious buildings.
The tour beings at the Ruta del Vino DO Jumilla stand at the Matavendimia fair and registration is priced at 3 euros, which includes the commemorative glass of the festival.
