October 11 to 13 Oktoberfest in San Javer
The Mar Menor town is hosting a weekend of live music with German beer and food
The annual Oktoberfest makes a welcome return to San Javier over the long holiday weekend of October 11 to 14, bringing with it a series of live musical performance as well as the renowned typical German beer and food which has proved so popular in recent years.
The municipal marquee opens at the Recinto Ferial to the public on October 11 from 20.00 to 2.00 with the official opening ceremony at 21.00, and then opens on Saturday 12th from 12.00 to midnight and on Sunday 13th from 12.00 to 19.00. Throughout the three days the area will be transformed with the Oktoberfest tents typically found at the world-renowned festival in Munich, recreating a Bavarian atmosphere with themed costumes, live music, a German 'biergarten' (beer garden), and gastronomy.
The San Javier Oktoberfest is one of the very few which have the official recognition of Paulaner Brauerei München beer, with the brand’s different varieties of wheat beer, lager and Salvator imported from Munich specially for the event. Gluten-free and non-alcoholic beers are also available, while among the food are various types of German sausages, roast chicken and hamburgers.
All proceeds from the festival are donated to charity, and the live music scheduled is as follows:
Friday October 11 (open 20.00 to 02.00)
23.00: Kaliqueños (pop and rock fusion)
Saturday October 12 (open 12.00 to midnight)
13.00: Flamenco show with the Escuela Jesús Quiles
16.00: Con P de Pop (pop rock)
18.00: Mondo Tarantino (billed as Tarantino-style rock)
22.00: La Calle (pop rock)
Sunday October 13 (open 12.00 to 19.00)
13.00: Antonio Mico (flamenco and rumba)
