October 10 A festival of flamenco and copla music in San Javier

Topping the bill are Jesús Castilla and Maribel Castillo at the winter theatre in San Javier

The annual San Javier Flamenco and Copla festival, celebrating two of Spain’s most representative musical traditions, is organized by the “Flamenco y Copla El Arte” association and is being held this year on Saturday 10^th October at 21.00 in the Teatro de Invierno (the winter theatre) in Parque Almansa, the centre of the town.

Among the leading flamenco performers present flamenco vocalist José Antonio Romero “El Perrito”, from Cádiz, who won the first prize in the “Cantes Mineros de Pasión” category at the national competition held in La Unión this year, performing with guitarist Manuel Cerpa, who generally accompanies flamenco superstar José Mercé, and percussion clappers Antoñito Filón and Domingo El Parra.

In terms of copla music, the star of the show is Mayte Adrián from Córdoba, who recently won the competition of Vega del Guadalquivir and has also been victorious at the Certamen de Copla Costa del Sol.

Also on the bill is the regional flamenco school of “El Jimenado”.

Tickets will be on sale on the door at 5 euros (free of charge for pensioners).
