November 22 Hiking, archaeology and lunch in the Caravaca village of La Encarnación

An archaeological walk is followed by the chance to enjoy a “gourmet rucksack” in good company

A series of three Saturday events under the name of “Alforjas de Historia y Sabor” (knapsacks of history and flavour) are being held in the municipality of Caravaca de la Cruz during November 2025, each of them consisting of a morning’s gentle hiking, an archaeological visit and a well-deserved lunch.

The last of these takes place on 22^nd November in La Encarnación and includes a visit to the Estrecho de la Encarnación. This is a river gorge formed over the millennia by the River Quípar, and was home to human beings and their predecessosrs for many thousands of years, as is evidenced by the discovery of Neanderthal remains here from around 40,000 BC.

Registration for the event is available online here at a cost of 10 euros + costs for adults and 5 euros plus costs for 5-12 year-olds. The tour begins at 9.00.
