There are still a few good opportunities to put your feet up before 2026 comes to an end, with four public holidays remaining in the Region of Murcia's work calendar.

 

After a fairly busy run of holidays earlier in the year, things go quiet for a while before the next break arrives in October. The remaining public holidays are Monday October 12, Monday December 7, Tuesday December 8 and Friday December 25.

 

 

The next holiday is Monday October 12, Spain's National Day. Because it falls on a Monday, anyone who normally works Monday to Friday gets a handy three-day weekend without having to take a day of annual leave.

 

 

December brings the best opportunity for a longer break. Monday December 7 is a public holiday in the Region of Murcia, with Constitution Day transferred to this date, followed immediately by Tuesday December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

 

For those working a standard Monday-to-Friday week, that's four days off in a row, from Saturday December 5 through to Tuesday December 8.

 

It's probably the most useful long weekend left on the calendar if you're thinking about a short getaway or simply want some extra time at home.

 

 

The final public holiday of 2026 is Friday December 25. Christmas Day falling on a Friday means another three-day weekend, running from Friday December 25 until Sunday December 27.

 

There are therefore several decent chances to squeeze in a break before the year is over, although the weeks between the October and December holidays won't bring any additional public holidays. Anyone wanting to create longer stretches of time off will need to use some annual leave.

 

So, if you've still got holiday days to use, it could be worth checking the calendar now rather than leaving it until December.
