This Wednesday September 9 brought a tough afternoon for much of the Region of Murcia, with flooded streets, standing water and traffic problems reported in several areas as the force of the downpours took its toll. The 112 Emergency Coordination Centre received more than two hundred calls linked to the storms.

 

Thankfully, things are set to calm down from Thursday, with drier and increasingly settled conditions taking over for the rest of the week even if temperatures take a little while to properly pick back up.

 

The day starts off cloudy, with showers and some locally heavy thunderstorms likely along the coast during the early morning. Things should turn partly cloudy for the rest of the day, with low cloud around and just the chance of the odd light shower.

 

Highs will drop noticeably, coming in at 26-29°C, and lows everywhere will dip below 20°C, making for a much cooler night than we've had recently. Winds will stay light and variable, turning easterly with some moderate gusts by the afternoon.

 

Skies clear up nicely, with just a bit of low cloud around first thing in the morning before sunshine takes over. Temperatures won't move much overall, but Cartagena and Murcia city could creep up towards 30°C.

Another mostly clear or sunny day, with some low cloud inland in the morning and along the coast from midday onwards. Temperatures stay much the same, and it should be another comfortable night in most areas.

 

Winds remain light and variable, becoming easterly again from midday.

 

Skies stay partly cloudy or clear, with some low cloud around in the morning. Overnight lows will creep up slightly while daytime highs stay about the same.

 

Winds continue light and variable, turning easterly from midday onwards.
