Murcia taxpayers receive €290.5 million in refunds
The tax office has already repaid more than 400,000 people in the Region of Murcia
The closing date for the 2024 Income Tax campaign has come and gone and hopefully everyone got their returns into the Treasury before the deadline. What we know for sure is that at the very least, 436,099 people in Murcia were bang on time as these lucky folks have already received a pretty sizeable refund.
According to the tax office itself, a whopping €290.545 million in overpayments has already been returned to workers in the Region of Murcia, which is a 4.45% increase in refunds compared to the 2023 campaign.
In the Region of Murcia, 549,487 refunds were requested related to Personal Income Tax (IRPF) during the 2024 fiscal year. Of these, 66.73% were paid out.
By offices, 337,857 refunds have been issued in Murcia city and 98,242 in Cartagena.
The tax office seems to be running a bit more efficiently than usual since at the national level, it has refunded €9.1 billion to 12,577,000 taxpayers so far, representing an increase of 0.7% in refunds and 5.8% in amounts compared to the previous year.
According to information published on Wednesday July 2 by the Tax Agency, 78.9% of the refund requests have been paid to date, and 66.5% of the refund amounts have been paid.
In total, at the end of the campaign, 24,570,000 tax returns have been filed, 2.3% more than last year, of which 15,932,000 resulted in refunds and 6,934,000 in payments owing.
