Murcia invests €10million to improve roads in 9 municipalities
The money will go towards resurfacing, road safety and three new roundabouts across the Region of Murcia

The regional government has committed to improving Murcia's road network with the launch of nine new projects worth €9.2 million. These works will focus on road safety and maintenance across the Region, according to the Murcia Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure.
These investments “are in addition to the more than €30million that the regional government has mobilised this year for road improvement projects,” Minister Jorge García Montoro pointed out.
“The new tenders are part of the regional government's ongoing efforts to maintain the road network in optimal condition, working on both maintenance and road safety and infrastructure modernisation,” he added.
Of the total investment, €5 million will go towards repairing and improving the road surface on five regional roads that pass through Fuente Álamo, Mazarrón, Murcia, Lorca, Mula and Pliego. The work will cover the RM-E15, RM-332, RM-310, RM-C15 and RM-C27 roads and aims to make the roads last longer while improving safety on sections with heavy traffic or worn surfaces.
Mr García Montoro also stressed that “the regional government continues to fulfil its commitment to improve communications throughout the Region, especially to promote territorial cohesion and economic development.”
The road safety program includes €1.8 million for three new roundabouts to reduce accidents at dangerous intersections. These will be built at the RM-602 and RM-603 junction in La Aljorra, Cartagena; on the RM-702 in Archivel, Caravaca de la Cruz; and on the RM-411 in Fortuna.
“These roundabouts are a direct response to the demands of local governments and residents, and will contribute to improving the safety of thousands of drivers who pass through these areas every day,” said Minister García Montoro.
The investment plan also sets aside €2.3 million for other important projects, including the second phase of drainage improvements on the Mar Menor highway, RM-19, “a key action to prevent flooding and enhance safety during periods of heavy rainfall,” and further upgrades to the RM-531 road, connecting Alguazas with Campos del Río.
