Murcia becomes Istanbul as Hollywood rolls into town
Streets close and locals wanted as Warner Bros. transforms Murcia into an exotic Turkish playground this November

A handful of streets, including Trapería, Barrionuevo, and Escultor Nicolás Salzillo, will be closed off and turned into bustling film sets filled with action scenes. If you spot some serious movie magic happening in your neighbourhood, don’t be surprised. November 5, in particular, will see Trapería Street off-limits to the public while filming is underway.
Local businesses have already been given the heads-up so they can brace for the excitement and the minor disruptions that come with hosting a Hollywood production. And don’t worry, access during filming days will be strictly limited to authorised personnel only.
But it’s not just the streets getting star treatment. Murcia Region International Airport will double as a key location on October 31, helping add authenticity to this grand production. Spanish companies are also lending a hand behind the scenes, making it a true home-grown collaboration.
Fancy being on the big screen? Now’s your chance! The production is on the hunt for extras aged 18 to 70 who live in Murcia. All ethnicities are welcome, so if you’ve ever dreamed of movie stardom, you can get in touch via the WhatsApp number displayed on the official casting poster.
This isn’t Murcia’s first brush with fame. Back in June 2023, the Los Mateos neighbourhood in Cartagena had a Hollywood makeover when it stood in for a Mexican town in Marvel’s ‘Venom 3.’ Fans even caught a glimpse of the film’s star, Tom Hardy, during filming.
With its diverse landscapes and vibrant cities, Murcia is quickly becoming a hotspot for international filmmakers. This November, the city will bring a little bit of Istanbul magic to the Costa Blanca - and maybe even a few locals to the silver screen.
