Murcia bar named among the 18 Best in Spain at new national awards
Café Bar Verónicas picked up a prestigious T de Bares award alongside bars from across Spain

A well-known bar in the Region of Murcia has officially been named one of the best in Spain after picking up a top award at the first-ever T de Bares ceremony in Madrid.
Café Bar Verónicas, led by chef Samuel Ruiz, was chosen as Murcia’s representative in a new national list created by Tapas magazine to celebrate the country’s best bars, taverns and traditional food spots.
The awards took place at Forbes House in Madrid, where 18 venues from across Spain were recognised for their food, atmosphere and contribution to Spain’s famous bar culture.
After collecting the award, the team behind Café Bar Verónicas shared an emotional message on social media thanking customers for their support.
They described the recognition as “a dream come true” and said they were incredibly grateful to everyone who had supported the business, visited the bar and continued coming back.
During the ceremony, Tapas magazine editor Andrés Rodríguez spoke about the importance of Spain’s bar scene, explaining that bars remain a huge part of daily life, conversation and culture across the country.
The event brought together chefs, hospitality professionals, celebrities and food lovers from around Spain, with awards handed out by well-known figures linked to each community.
Alongside Café Bar Verónicas in Murcia, the full list of winners included:
• Rogada Wine Bar, Andalucía
• Brrrutal, Aragón
• Cadejo Wine Bar, Asturias
• Santería, Baleares
• Tagoro, Canarias
• El Sol, Cantabria
• La Bechamel, Castilla-La Mancha

Organisers explained the awards were created to shine a spotlight on the bars that continue to shape Spanish social life, from modern wine bars to traditional neighbourhood favourites.
