Mojácar Carnival 2025: Music, colour and non-stop fun
A spectacular celebration packed with parades, parties and plenty of entertainment
Mojácar is gearing up for one of its most vibrant annual celebrations as the 2025 Carnival promises a whirlwind of music, dancing and dazzling costumes. Taking place from Friday February 21 to Wednesday March 5, this year’s event is set to bring the town to life with an exciting mix of activities for all ages.
The festivities will kick off on Friday February 21 with the much-loved Children's Carnival at the Multipurpose Centre. Youngsters will be treated to an afternoon of bouncy castles, craft workshops, music and dancing, making it the perfect start to the celebrations. As night falls, the energy will continue to build with a live concert by Los Lagartos and a DJ set from SEE, starting at 10pm.
Saturday February 22 sees the highly anticipated Parade of Comparsas take over Mojácar Playa. From 5pm, dazzling costumes and rhythmic beats will fill the streets as the procession moves from Río Abajo to the Shopping Centre. The celebrations will then continue at the Multipurpose Centre at 8:00 pm with the Dance Competition, where participants will showcase their best moves in a lively contest.
But the party doesn’t stop there. The Grand Carnival Party will take the night to the next level, bringing together music, dancing and a fantastic atmosphere. Revellers can enjoy a live performance from Orquesta El Norte, followed by DJ Raúl Vazco, ensuring the fun lasts well into the night.
The festivities will reach their grand finale on Wednesday March 5 with the traditional Burial of the Sardine. This symbolic farewell to the Carnival will see a colourful procession wind through the streets from 7pm, marking the end of the celebrations in true Mojácar style.
Speaking about the significance of the event, Mayor Francisco García Cerdá highlighted its importance for the town: “Carnival is one of our most emblematic festivals and every year it surpasses itself in participation and creativity. We want Mojácar to shine with its Carnival and for both residents and visitors to live a unique experience, full of joy and conviviality.”
Councillor for Celebrations, Pascual Artero, echoed this sentiment: “We have worked on a programme designed for all ages, with activities for the little ones, traditional events, and a great party that will surely be unforgettable. We invite everyone to join in and enjoy a Carnival that will be spectacular.”
With a packed programme of events, Mojácar’s Carnival 2025 promises to be a festival to remember. Whether you’re taking part in the parade, dancing the night away, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, it’s an event not to be missed!
