May 31 Free guided tour IN ENGLISH of the historic thermal baths and museum of Alhama de Murcia

Discover how the town of Alhama grew famous for its thermal springs

The first known spa facilities in Alhama were built by the Romans in the 1st century AD, and although they are no longer in use they were later restored by the Moors (the name of the town derives from the Arabic word for baths) and as recently as the early 20th century a spa hotel prospered on the site.

During this spring the tourist office of Alhama de Murcia is offering two free guided tours in English of the “Los Baños” archaeological museum, providing a chance to learn more about the fascinating history of the town under the Romans, the Moors and, since the 13th century, Christian rule. The second of these tours lasts approximately 50 minutes and begins at 10am on Saturday May 31.

This tour is also being held in Spanish on Tuesday April 22 and Saturday May 31 at 12 midday.
