May 17 Free Museums Night guided tour in the historic centre of Lorca

The city of Lorca is an open-air museum of historic architecture and monuments!

One of the events being held in Lorca on Saturday 17th May this year to commemorate International Museums Day is this free guided tour of the historic city centre, staring at 17.30 next to the statue of Alfonso X (the man who conquered much of Murcia from the Moors in the 13^th century) in the Plaza de España and lasting approximately 90 minutes.

Along the route the highlights include the magnificent former Collegiate Church of San Patricio, the Town Hall building, and various of the numerous churches which have stood for centuries in the centre, surviving attacks by the Moorish kingdom of Andalucía, the ravages of time and even the earthquakes which devastated much of the city in 2011.
