March 29 The German Requiem by Brahms in Lorca
Composed by Johannes Brahms between 1865 and 1868, the “German Requiem” is not only a Mass for the departed but also a meditation on the themes of life, death and eternal peace. Unlike most requiems, the score is based on lithurgical texts not in Latin but in German, and rather than climaxing with the Final Judgement, Brahms chose to focucs on the peaceful reconciliation of the living.
The performance b the Orpheus Music Choir of Murcia (under the baton of conductor Javier Mondéjar) on Saturday March 29 begins at 20.00 with tickets priced at 10 and 12 euros and available online here as well as at the Auditorio itself before the curtain rises if there are seats left.
