Los Alcázares Town Hall has stepped up its mosquito control programme across the municipality, targeting both the common mosquito and the tiger mosquito as the warmer months bring an inevitable rise in activity.

 

Larvicide treatments are being applied in areas where water tends to collect, alongside fumigation efforts designed to limit the spread of the insects and reduce the nuisance for residents.

 

The council has confirmed that all products being used are biological and environmentally friendly, posing no risk to people, pets or local wildlife.

 

The Health Department has also put out a reminder that what happens in private gardens and on terraces can make a real difference. Standing water in plant pots, containers or any corner of an outdoor space is exactly the kind of environment mosquitoes need to breed, so clearing it away regularly is one of the simplest and most effective things residents can do.

 

Anyone with a swimming pool is also asked to make sure it's being properly treated and maintained throughout the season.
