Los Alcázares gets ahead of the game with Christmas plans for 2025
Council pledges festive decorations that are brighter, greener and set to bring more visitors this holiday season

Each year, Los Alcázares works to make the town’s streets and squares feel magical for locals and visitors alike, bringing people together and boosting both culture and business. “The Los Alcázares Town Council, year after year, has been celebrating the Christmas festivities,” explained a spokesperson. “So the council is once again delivering extra-special lights and classic Christmas touches in all the most iconic spots around the municipality, hoping to draw in more visitors and keep the town lively, culturally and economically.”
This year, the council has set aside a budget of €114,098 to make sure the town shines bright. According to officials, the upcoming contract covers everything from supplying and installing the lights to maintaining, repairing and eventually taking them down once the season is over. The winning bidder will be responsible for every part of the process, including equipment and clean-up.
Importantly, Los Alcázares is determined to keep Christmas green. The council insists the new lighting will be “carried out under sustainability criteria and the implementation of new technologies with lower energy consumption.” That includes swapping out old bulbs for LEDs and micro-lamps, which not only last longer and use less energy but also help tackle carbon emissions and climate change. “The implementation of LED technology as a lighting system not only saves on electricity consumption, but also produces significant environmental savings in terms of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere, and therefore contributes to the fight against climate change,” reads the contract.
So, as the Christmas countdown begins, Los Alcázares is set to twinkle brighter than ever - and do it sustainably, too.
