Lorca reports increase in tourist and visitor numbers in 2025

15,600 non-Spanish visitors came to Lorca last year

The Town Hall of Lorca has reported a significant increase in the number of visitors and tourists seeking information at the Tourist Office and information points in the city during 2025, with non-Spaniards accounting for 21.6 per cent of the total.

More specifically, the overall figure for people requesting information and recommendations at the tourist information points reached 72,489 – an average of almost 200 per day – including 15,655 non-Spaniards. Exact figures for each nationality have not been released, but the 10 most numerous were, in order of importance, the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, USA, Poland, Ecuador and Argentina.

While foreign visitors accounted for 21.6% of the total, another 25.9% were locals from the municipality of Lorca, keen to learn and see more of their home city or to show friends and family round, while among those from parts of Spain outside the Region of Murcia the most important markets were those of Madrid, Alicante, Málaga, Almería, Valencia and Granada.

It is also worth mentioning that the tickets sold by Lorca Taller del Tiempo, which is mainly responsible for tours and events at the castle, rose last year by 11 per cent in value, reflecting the enduring popularity of the activities held at the “Fortress of the Sun”.
