Murcia’s La Torre Golf Resort has taken the decision to permit short-term tourist rentals after all of its sub-communities voted in favour of allowing holiday lets on the urbanisation.

 

After receiving the minutes and certificates from the final two pending sub-communities, La Torre Golf Resort community management has confirmed that apartments, villas and townhouses across the resort have all approved the proposal.

 

“As agreed at the last AGM, in the coming days we will officially call the Extraordinary Meeting of Presidents, which will take place towards the end of this month, in order to legally formalise the agreement,” they said in a statement.

 

“The presidents will receive further details through the official channels during the course of next week.”

 

The decision comes at a time when tourist rental rules are tightening in Spain. Following a major Supreme Court ruling in 2024 and changes to the Horizontal Property Law, homeowners’ associations can now ban or restrict tourist rentals in residential buildings with a three-fifths majority vote.

 

From April 2025, communities have been able to prevent new tourist licences from being issued with a 60% vote, replacing the previous requirement for unanimity and giving greater legal certainty to both residents and property owners.

 

La Torre Golf Resort’s unanimous approval places it among communities choosing to permit and regulate holiday rentals rather than prohibit them outright, in a move calculated to continue to bring important funds to the resort from holidaymakers.
