June 12 to 15 Annual fiestas of El Cañarico in Alhama de Murcia

Music, merriment and plenty of food in honour of San Antonio de Pádua

The village of El Cañarico, which lies at the foot of the Sierra de Carrascoy on the RM-603 road leading to Murcia from Mazarrón, is holding its annual fiestas in honour of San Antonio de Padua from June 12 to 15.

The program of events includes the following:

Thursday June 12

21.30: Hot chocolate and buns to celebrate the feast day of the patron saint of El Cañarico, San Antonio de Pádua.

Friday June 13

21.30: The traditional annual Migas competition, free beer and nuts for all those attending.

22.30: Prizegiving and raffle.

23.00: Live music from Dúo Géminis in the fiestas marquee alongside the Local Social.

Saturday June 14

20.00: Bouncy castles, popcorn and candy sugar next to the Local Social.

22.00: Tradfional Murcia meat pies and empanadas for all those present in the marquee next to the Local Social.

23.00: Live music from Serendipity at the Centro Social El Cañarico.

00.30: Fireworks to mark the end of the evening.

Sunday June 15

10.30: Motorbikers’ breakfast with live music from Bukera and Plan Murdock.

19.30: Choral Mass in the church of El Cañarico.

20.00: The annual procession leaves the church heading for Pueblo Nuevo, accompanied by the band of the Ateneo Músico Cultural Maestro José Antonio Ayala from Alhama de Murcia and local dignitaries. Refreshments are on offer at the end of the procession at the church.
