Jumilla unveils ambitious €27.3 million budget with €11 million for major town projects

New jobs, improved services and major infrastructure projects form part of the council's spending plan

Jumilla has approved a €27.3 million municipal budget, with almost €11 million committed to projects to be rolled out between 2026 and 2027.

The budget focuses on improving local services, upgrading important facilities and investing in infrastructure that could help support the town's long-term growth. Local officials say it brings together a number of priorities that will strengthen services and support future development.

Several large projects are included in the plans, among them is a new building for the Local Police. Improvements are also planned for the Paco Rasina football ground, an important sporting facility in the town, along with an expansion of the municipal cemetery. The budget also includes a full upgrade of street lighting and investment in greener public spaces, helping to improve the environment and the overall look of the town.

Public services are also expected to benefit from the creation of 28 new council jobs. Many of these roles will be linked to street cleaning and waste collection, and with the extra staff the town hall will be able to improve services and ease pressure on existing teams.

The council is also continuing efforts to attract more businesses to Jumilla through tax incentives introduced earlier in the current term. The plan is to strengthen the local economy, which has long relied on agriculture, while supporting more industry and creating stable employment for the future.

Transport links remain part of the bigger picture too. Local leaders continue to press for improvements to the El Carche road, while also calling for better connections to the Autovía A-33 motorway, a route which is important for improving access to the area and supporting future economic development.
With the budget approved early, there is hope that projects can move ahead without the delays that sometimes affect public works.
